How can I avoid being denied benefits for vocational rehabilitation?

I was recently deemed unemployable and too "severely disabled" to be rehabilitated by Voc Rehab, again. (This is the second time.) No doctor or therapist determined I am unemployable, just a Voc Rehab case manager.

Final Thoughts. The best advice I can give you is (if you are eligible) to first apply for Chapter 31 benefits. It’s better to have both your benefits and GI Bill to decide which is ultimately best. Pursuing a second graduate degree or some other form of education could also work in your favor.

Is it better to use the GI Bill or the GI Bill?

Go through the process and give yourself the option of using this resource before deciding against it. You may ultimately decide that using the GI Bill is better for you. However, ultimately it is better to have the option than to take yourself out for no reason.

For those of you who have filed for VA compensation then subsequently applied for vocational rehab (chapter 31 benefits), how long did the process take? I am still a reserve PJ and have taken my bumps and bruises over the last six years.

It is a very simple process now. If you have a VA rating, go on ebenefits and apply for Voc Rehab. They get back to you fairly quickly. It is best (in my opinion) to already be accepted to a PA program prior to sitting down with the Voc Rehab counselor.

My main concern going through Voc Rehab is them telling me I cannot do PA school due to having an amputation and a combat stress rating.

Not their choice. It's if they find you entitled or not to the benefits, not the career. That said, have you talked to PA programs about having an amputation? Probably only a concern if its an upper extremity and then that's up to the school. Reason is competencies.

Help, Son Passed in Service

Thursday we found out our son passed on active duty in Norfolk. His mom and I are crushed. I am the PADD. The Navy folks visited and left us forms. We are having a meeting tonight with his siblings. What do we need to know?

Depression sucks

Right now I'm really feeling terrible. Like literal shit. I left my ex 2 months ago because she didn't want to get married after 9 yrs knowing that's what I wanted 4 yrs prior. I moved back home but feel so alone right now. Old friends have their own lives and family while I'm laying in bed with no one. I can't stand my family very much either.

I feel like such a fool

So I got help from a VSO a few months ago filing a claim, and she seemingly added in all of these extra claims that I thought were complete BS.

Loneliness completely sucks

I’ve been out since October 2020, and the amount of loneliness you experience is insane. I went from talking and being friends with an insane amount of people to seeing nobody ever.

Today i went to the VA Regional office in my city to request some documents from my file. The Rep that was going to assist me took me back to her desk and looked into my information.

How do you respond to someone who says the military is just a job you chose to do?

So I'm a medically retired 100% disabled Army veteran and I had a "friend" text me today asking if I feel appreciated for my service. This is not a topic I would ever bring up, I don't even advertise my prior service to most people but he asked and I told him that frankly I don't think people really give a shit about the military anymore.
