I think her change makes sense, it just isn't explained well. Shaundi got sick of what she'd turned into in SR2 - someone to sleep around to get information, and later someone who would do it on TV.

They make their escape and find themselves in a L.E.G.I.O.N. controlled New York City. They manage to escape the city and get as far away as possible.

Shaundi and Amber are offered a place to stay while she recovers. Shaundi spends the next two days sleeping and recovering, in which her wounds almost fully heal. Knowing Shaundi is on a journey, Jessica gives Shaundi and Amber a fresh set of clothes and her car, which Shaundi shows much gratitude.
