What is CBT therapy?

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CMT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse. The rationale behind CBT is that all behavior is learned, including maladaptive behavior, and that individuals are both producers and products of their environments. The general goal of CBT is to create new conditions for learning.

What is individual therapy?

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life. One-on-one sessions between a participant and his or her primary counselor or therapist can be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Individual therapy can be beneficial to participants who need a more intensely personalized interaction in order to process successes or setbacks, or to address issues that may not be appropriate to discuss in a group therapy session.

What is a partial hospitalization program?

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. The PHP is designed as a continuation of inpatient programming with a special curriculum to help individuals to get back into daily life. PHP is held Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm.

What is the purpose of DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

What is residential rehab?

During regular residential rehab, individuals may participate in a variety of therapeutic activities, including individual, group, family, and experiential therapy. Throughout their time in our regular residential rehabilitation program, individuals will participate in at least one 30-minute individual therapy session each week, with additional individual sessions available to be scheduled on an as-needed basis. Group therapy at our treatment center is a fundamental element of treatment in the regular rehabilitation program, with multiple sessions conducted every day. Family therapy sessions can be scheduled on an as-needed basis in this treatment program when appropriate and desired by the individual in treatment, and family members may also participate in our twice-weekly family program. Experiential therapies such as music group and exercise group are held on a regular basis in our treatment programs at our center. Those who are being treated for opioid dependence may also participate in our innovative H.O.P.E. program.

What is family program?

Family Program: The Family Program is open to any individuals in treatment and family members who desire to participate (special permission is needed for children under 12). The Family Program consists of a psychoeducational process in which the individual’s family learns about the disease of chemical dependency and the recovery process. Additionally, as part of this program, individuals and their family members and/or significant others may address issues that may be affecting the family’s ability to support the efforts of the individual in treatment at our center to achieve and maintain long-term recovery.

What is the H.O.P.E program?

H.O.P.E. Program – Our Heroin Opiate Positive Experience (H.O.P.E.) Program is designed to help individuals who have struggled with opioid dependency to heal their brain and truly recover from the effects of a destabilized endorphin system. Individuals at our treatment center located in Williamsburg, PA who participate in the H.O.P.E. program will complete several activities that help encourage this positive transformation. Individuals who would benefit from participation in the H.O.P.E. program will be determined at the time of their admission.

What is dual diagnosis treatment?

Dual Diagnosis: Individuals who are experiencing both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health disorder can receive comprehensive care for both of these conditions in our inpatient nonhospital dual diagnosis rehabilitation program at our treatment center. This program is designed to provide diagnosis-specific, dual diagnosis treatment. Individuals in the dual diagnosis program receive both a chemical dependency counselor and a mental health counselor, which is unique from other treatment centers. Programming in the dual diagnosis group at our Williamsburg-based treatment center is tailored to meet all of those unique needs. Individuals may engage in mental health-specific groups and addiction-focused groups so that all of their concerns can be addressed. As is the case with those in the regular rehab program, individuals in the dual diagnosis program will have the opportunity to participate in individual, group, family, and experiential therapies, and those whose substance use disorder involved opioids may also benefit from our H.O.P.E. program.
