Referrals and Admissions Information
When a patient is referred to our inpatient program, a rehabilitation admissions nurse liaison will complete a review of the patient's medical record. During this review, the nurse liaison will assess the patient’s condition to identify specific needs and evaluate the patient’s eligibility for the program.

What time does Inova open?
To maintain an environment that allows all patients to rest and recover, we welcome family and visitors from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Overnight guests are not permitted. While you are active in therapy, you may tire easily and require periods of rest during the day. Rest is particularly important in the early phase of your recovery. Please remind your family members that rest is important to your recovery, and to schedule visits around therapy sessions.
How many beds does Inova have?
The Inova Rehabilitation Center is a 67-bed rehabilitation hospital within Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. The rehabilitation hospital provides a safe, secure, supportive environment for our patients in a community atmosphere. Our program is certified in Stroke Rehabilitation by the Joint Commission.
What to wear for a therapy session?
For therapy, you will need to wear comfortable clothing. Most people wear warm-up suits, sweatpants or shorts with loose-fitting shirts. We recommend several outfits for maximum flexibility.
What is the Inova Mount Vernon Peer Mentor Program?
Inova Mount Vernon Hospital offers the Peer Mentor Program, a unique collaboration that brings brain injury or stroke survivors into a mentoring relationship with patients newly adjusting to their lives as survivors of the same conditions. Mentorship may include sharing experiences related to hospitalization, rehabilitation, and ongoing integration into home, work and community setting.
Why do we inspect all electrical equipment?
All electrical equipment such as fans, radios, electric razors, hair dryers, televisions, computers or DVD players must be inspected by our engineering department to help ensure your safety and to meet hospital regulations.
