What is Montana Wild Wings recovery?
Our most interesting bird of the rehab season: On July 4th WildWing received a Yellow-billed Cuckoo by way of Jeani Garrett of Arizona Covey. It was rescued at Kierland Commons in Scottsdale, and had hit a window. It is one of the most threatened birds in Arizona. After a week rehab it was released at Hassayampa Nature Preserve near Wickenburg.
How do you rehab an injured bird?
Put the bird in a dark, warm, quiet space, away from children and pets. Avoid interacting with, talking to, and handling the bird, as this will cause it additional stress. Never give a bird food or water. Immediately contact your local wildlife rehabilitation facility.

What do you do with an injured bird?
If you find an injured bird, carefully put it in a cardboard box with a lid or a towel over the top, and place in a cool, safe place. Birds go into shock very easily when injured, and often die from the shock.

FOUND A BABY BIRD
Wild birds live among us in our gardens and parks. Sometimes they need our help and sometimes they don’t. How do you tell?
FOUND A BIRD TANGLED
If the bird is caught in something such as twine or string or some type of garden mesh that restricts its ability to move and fly, have someone assist you while you free the bird.
FOUND ADULT BIRD WITH WING INJURY
Place the bird in a small box with a lid or a brown paper bag that can be fastened at the top. Line with paper towels.
FOUND A BIRD COATED IN OIL, GLUE OR OTHER STICKY SUBSTANCE
Use a small amount of corn meal to neutralize the sticky surface and to help avoid further injury
