The Depression I've Been Putting Off Hit Hard This Morning

With all of the election drama, I am back to awake all night and not being able to eat. At 52 you'd think I would have this covered and I thought I did. I made the mistake of getting on social media and am regretting it. What I read is so many bumper sticker slogans with nothing to back them up.

Have a therapy appt tomorrow (nervous about telling the truth)

I have my first MH appt tomorrow with my therapist since the whole Covid thing.

I just spent my morning in a homeless camp..

Much like many of you, I came back from combat years ago with an insatiable need for adrenaline. I've filled that need with lots of reckless decisions such as fighting, driving 160mph, traveling alone through cartel controlled portions of Mexico, etc... but after a couple kids and some grey hairs I've really calmed down.

Since leaving the military I've been feeling like a burden and completely alone

I just found this subreddit and I feel like this might be the only place that understands. I'm not suicidal or at least not anymore but I still struggle with this massive feeling of loneliness. I'm going to a therapist but it's hard to feel like I belong.

You go to a physical therapist (civilian) for an injury to your ankle and the provider starts doing rom and stability tests on it and comments, "yeah, you definitely have some instability in that ankle, I'd be surprised if you even have any tendon left on the outside here." After contacting my Congressman, he managed to speed up the process and get someone at the NPRC to give me a copy of my DD-214!

I was checking my e-mail as I usually do in the afternoons, also because I recently got hired at some minimum wage job that I didn't really want to get hired at in the first place BECAUSE I couldn't re-enlist without my DD-214, and I was literally hired YESTERDAY.

Lately I've been feeling down, depressed... but there are good outlets I've found. Here are my thoughts

Look I live alone. I don't make 100% disability but I think even with that I'd feel even more shitty because I'd never have a reason to leave the house. I do have 40% disability and have to work full-time and I make decent enough wages. I got a engineering degrees after separating from the Air Force.

By normal I suppose I mean in a way that you just first natural in your environments like you belong. I constantly have to ask myself if what I'm saying is acceptable to say in public/work or not. I'm making an honest effort to reintegrate, been a month and change since getting out and I'm just wondering.
