Where is HealthSouth located?

HealthSouth was incorporated in Birmingham, Alabama as a Delaware company on February 22, 1984 as Amcare, Inc. by its founder Richard M. Scrushy. The company opened its first facility in Little Rock, Arkansas and one in Birmingham later that year.

When did HealthSouth change its name?

In 1995, the company changed its name to HealthSouth Corporation to better reflect its diversified interests in healthcare. On August 31, 1995 HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy announced that HealthSouth was going to build a new headquarters on US Highway 280 in Birmingham.

As a partial paraplegic, Hamza relies on his arms and upper body to navigate daily life. The 46-year-old came to our hospital to regain strength in his arms and neck after a second back surgery. In therapy, he did a variety of exercises focused on gaining strength.
