For example, with VA Voc Rehab, if a veteran drops the course, they may have to pay the program back. Or, if you fail a course, you can also have to pay the program back. There are exceptions. Veterans who proactively notify their counselors can have a degree of luck in persuading that counselor to not make them pay the money back.

From the Veteran

I am receiving Chapter 31 VA Vocational Rehabilitation benefits and attending school. I want to drop a class because it’s online and I know I won’t pass it but my counselor said I cant drop classes, to just go ahead and get an f and retake the class.

From Benjamin Krause (me)

Hang in there. Ultimately, you are the one who will have to live with the impact of any decision made while you get your education. Always, always, always keep that in mind when it comes to your benefits and life.

Failing grade

If you cannot complete this course due to your disabilities - then do the right thing. Drop Chapter 31 and apply for Individual Unemployability. If you cannot finish a course, you cannot hold a job. Chances are, the VA will recognize this.

Re: Failing grade

If it is just one course and it is the first time you have dropped, you can get away with it. I found out last month how hard it is to deal with VA if you have to drop more then one course (On advice from my VA Counseler who assured me no action would be taken)

I thought I would enjoy working for fellow veterans

I legit thought it would bring me out of my hole and give me a purpose, but most veterans I deal with honestly suck. A lot of them are snobby, entitled, and downright rude when asked to submit a simple document or reply to an email so I can get THEIR benefits submitted in time. Then they complain they don't get paid on time.

Happy Easter Everyone

Thank you to all the veterans on this site. I just received my 70% Service connected Disability rating on Thursday and had my C&P Exam Monday. Kudos for the VA for the rapid process, I filed January 21, 2021. I used Texas DAV VSO, I am grateful to them for everything they did.

Well it Happened

Pretty bittersweet having the VA consider me P&T at only 28 :/ really brings into light I am screwed up. At my last RFE they decided my issues hasn't gotten better and made it P&T.
