As a Veteran Readiness & Employment (Chapter 31) student, you are eligible to have your required textbooks paid for through Voc Rehab. The process for ordering books has recently changed to go completely online. Please contact our office to have a book voucher written and delivered to the campus store.

In order to receive your book stipend, you must set up a direct deposit with the Department of Veteran Affairs. You can receive an annual book stipend in an amount up to $1,000. The amount you receive is based on the number of credit hours you are taking.

What happens next?

Voc Rehab will send the MSSC the students approval as an authorization through the VR&E Tungsten system.

Process

Apply for Vetern Readiness and Employment program at www.ebenefits.va.gov or in person at 7500 Viscount C-50 El Paso, TX 79925, must have a 10% or more Service Connected disability rating to apply.

Tuition Process

Student Business Services will post Chapter 31 payments after census day. If you have been certified, no payment arrangements will be needed.

Authorization

New students: Once you are registered for courses visit the MSSC to request certification . Please note a current Authorization is required to request certification.

MSSC Required Documents

Current authorization that has not expired. Major, minor, and concentration must match Goldmine. Authorization is sent to UTEP from VR&E Counselor via the Tungsten network.

Drug & Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Voc rehab can be a great resource for people with addictions. However, keep in mind that VR is a later step in many individuals’ recovery plans. Voc rehab is great for helping with the transition back into daily life after inpatient rehab.
