I managed to not make an impulse purchase

I’ve been wanting the naked 3 for some time and got an instagram ad from the brand saying that the palette is on sale. Now, I didn’t have the money. Instead of putting the purchase on my credit card (which I paid off a month ago and haven’t used since), I decided to wait until I get paid.

Not buying makeup helped me not buy other stuff

I was on a website because I saw that this particular site had some new stuff that went up. I wanted to check it out. I saw they had this robe and I was so interested! I have one robe I wear all the time so I thought it was a good idea and this new one is floor length, the one I have isn’t.

I just paid for shipping

Small victory, but a victory nonetheless. This evening I went to order a new Brow Flick from Glossier, because my old one went dry. I immediately started browsing for other interesting makeup products to meet that sweet ”free shipping” criteria...then realised what I was doing. I do NOT need more makeup, my stash is already full to the brim.

I got approved for an apartment!

My brother and I are moving across town to a new apartment in a few weeks from our parents’ house. I’m really excited but nervous. This move will force me to realize what I do and don’t use in makeup/skin care/body care. Also I’ll be forced to change my spending habits drastically. I’m scared because I’m a creature who loves comfort.

Switch your thinking

I started today browsing Sephora's website and found an eyeshadow palette that was on sale and beautiful. I checked it using Temptalia and realized I have maybe 1 dupe for the whole thing, so I should get it, right?

I used every blush, highlighter, and bullet lipstick I own one by one

I have a pretty large collection. I decided to put all blush, highlighters, and bullet lipsticks into boxes and use them one by one. As I used them, I would put them back into my vanity.

How did that happen?

Yesterday I was waiting for a friend to pick me up and she was running late. While I'm killing time, I go online to sephora and put a hair styling product into my cart. Its pricey but it's a holy grail for me and I haven't found a cheaper alternative yet. This will be my first cosmetic purchase (hair, skin, makeup) for 2021.

I didn't do it

The other day, I was doing my makeup and while I was doing it I realised I had mainly warm toned, dark brown and orange eyeshadow because that's what I usually go for (I even gave my mum a completely cool toned eyeshadow palette a few years ago, because I was not ever using it).

Lose weight with project panning

So I started project pan of my less favorite lipsticks a few weeks ago. I usually love to have a full coat of lipstick and reapply after eating.

I hit pan on my concealer!!

Not posting this in PanPorn bc I want to pan a few more things and do a bulk post but I'm so proud of myself! The product rotation method has been quite sustainable for me and it's so pleasing to see that the first concealer (purchased 7 months ago) in my makeup collection is showing signs of being used (it's in a compact/ pot form).

My tips and tricks after a year of low-buy

Hi everyone! I started my low-buy journey about 14 months ago and I think I'm not doing too bad. I spent €227/$273 in 2020 and so far €14/$17 in 2021. I want to share some of my tips and techniques to help me not buy makeup :)

I stopped watching beauty content - what I've learned after a month

The title says it - I decided to stop watching beauty content a month ago and I posted here about it.

This is your sign to cancel your make-up subscription box

I had BoxyCharm for 2 years, and holy cow did I end up with a lot of CRAP. I had premium with usually includes a whole palette each month which usually were subpar. I found myself accumulating tons of make-up I would never use, stuff that wasn’t right for my skin type, and stuff that would irritate my eyes and skin.

Natasha Denona Marketing Strategy

I know this strategy is nothing new with makeup companies, but I always still catch myself falling for it. With Natasha Denona, they have the larger sizes palettes that retail into the hundreds. I would never dream of buying those given the sheer amount I already own, no matter how wonderful the formula is.

No urge to buy makeup after getting my skin under control

This is something I realized just now...I haven’t had the urge to purchase makeup in almost two months, after habitually buying makeup once a month as a “treat” 😑. I think it’s because I finally found skincare that works really well for me. I guess feeling like my skin was out of control made me subconsciously want to buy makeup.

Confessions of a Returnoholic: How I got banned from Nordstrom

In 2019, I received a letter from Nordstrom Rack Account Team informing me that I am banned from shopping online due to my high return rate. It mentioned that I spent $121K with them in the past 2 years and returned 80% of what I bought. I was shocked.

Daily reminder to try new techniques instead of new products

More often than not, the only things that can sell a new product are packaging and advertisements, but we probably have something veeery similar to the actual product.

Skincare Panning - Motivation for Workouts and Showers

I'm still working from home due to the pandemic, which means infrequent showers and since the cold weather, infrequent workouts and less use of skincare. Now that it's warmer, I'm trying to get back into shape and as a result, taking more showers and having a more regular nighttime skincare regimen.
