What to look for when buying a used RV?

When looking for a used RV, check for things like water damage (common), mechanical issues, electrical issues and structural issues. Most other things can be repaired easily (like upholstery and finishes).

For an inexpensive update, you can also spray paint the hinges and/or pulls on your cabinets. In the bathroom, you can use a paint especially formulated for painting over old bathroom fixtures to resurface your tub, toilet and sink if required.

Consider installing vinyl plank as flooring for your RV. It's inexpensive, light and durable, and it's easy to install! You can lay it over old vinyl, and you can use a ruler and craft knife to cut it. We love how ours looks, feels and wears!

Step 1 – Remove old wood

The majority of the wood was connected to the trailer with old rusty bolts. I used a socket wrench and crescent wrench for this step.#N#You can see in the photo below that the old plywood needed to be replaced. It was attached with bolts and screws. I ended up using a pry bar to remove the wood.

Step 3 – Paint!

I decided to paint the rims on for this project as well. Since it is a just a trailer, I simply spray painted the rims with white. To protect the wheels from overspray you can tape them off. One thing I like to do is spray the tires with “ TireWet ” to shine up the tires and make them look like new.

Step 4 – Attach new boards

I attached new support stretchers for the 4×8 sheet of plywood.#N#I attached the side boards using 2 1/4 inch bolts.
