Can I get GI Bill for higher education?
Your GI Bill is not the only way you can pay for higher education. Fortunately, with Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment), you can now receive benefits to pay for your education. Knowing the law first will help you understand what facts in your background are important to bring up. Otherwise, you run the risk of dumping your entire life story on a person who only has 10 minutes to review the case. If your facts do not line up with the law, then you will likely get denied.

What is NPWE in the military?
The NPWE program provides eligible Veterans the opportunity to obtain training and practical job experience concurrently. This program is ideal for Veterans or Servicemembers who have a clearly established career goal, and who learn easily in a hands-on environment. This program is also well suited for Veterans who are having difficulties obtaining employment due to lack of work experience. The NPWE program may be established in a federal, state, or local (i.e. city, town, school district) government agencies only. The employer may hire the Veteran at any point during the NPWE.
What is SEI program?
The SEI program is for eligible Veterans who face challenges in obtaining employment. Veterans approved to participate in the SEI program are hired by participating employers and employment is expected to continue following successful completion of the program. Employers may be provided this incentive to hire Veterans. If approved, the employer will receive reimbursement for up to 50 percent of the Veteran’s salary during the SEI program, which can last up to six months.

You go to a physical therapist (civilian) for an injury to your ankle and the provider starts doing rom and stability tests on it and comments, "yeah, you definitely have some instability in that ankle, I'd be surprised if you even have any tendon left on the outside here." You then have to tell that PT that the ankle he was just testing is your good ankle..

After contacting my Congressman, he managed to speed up the process and get someone at the NPRC to give me a copy of my DD-214!
I was checking my e-mail as I usually do in the afternoons, also because I recently got hired at some minimum wage job that I didn't really want to get hired at in the first place BECAUSE I couldn't re-enlist without my DD-214, and I was literally hired YESTERDAY.
Lately I've been feeling down, depressed... but there are good outlets I've found. Here are my thoughts
Look I live alone. I don't make 100% disability but I think even with that I'd feel even more shitty because I'd never have a reason to leave the house. I do have 40% disability and have to work full-time and I make decent enough wages. I got a engineering degrees after separating from the Air Force.
How long did it take you before you started feeling "normal" as a civilian?
By normal I suppose I mean in a way that you just first natural in your environments like you belong. I constantly have to ask myself if what I'm saying is acceptable to say in public/work or not. I'm making an honest effort to reintegrate, been a month and change since getting out and I'm just wondering.
