How we help
On a daily basis, our staff works together as an integrated team to provide a wide array of services including outpatient physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology, orthotics, prosthetics, and hospice care.
Show with music and more
The telethon and auction event is a way for the Rehab Center to share in an entertaining format its story of patient care so that it can raise funds to continue services. The production is designed to be engaging for both the live audience and viewers at home.
The power of many donors
Small donations have added up through the telethon years. Since the first show in 1971, more than $45 million has been raised to provide services to people who had no means of paying.
Telethon evolved through the years
With the telethon reaching a 50-year milestone, this year's show will include flashbacks and tributes to previous telecasts.
Auction expands engagement
The auction that was added in 1975 initially was a small component of the broadcast affair. Most of the goods up for bid were donated in-house, Martin said.
Telethon's staying power
Despite all of the transformations of the telethon and auction, the broadcast's longevity is most attributable to the Rehab Center being relevant to the people of the area, Martin said.

I moved to Abilene in 1989 to lead non-profit ministry called Young Life. I don’t know if it was because I was so consumed with my own mission and calling or what, but I really didn’t know much about the Rehab until probably the early 2000’s.
