What is NPWE in the military?
The NPWE program provides eligible Veterans the opportunity to obtain training and practical job experience concurrently. This program is also well suited for Veterans who are having difficulties obtaining employment due to lack of work experience. The NPWE program may be established in a federal, state, or local (i.e. city, town, school district) government agencies only. The employer may hire the Veteran at any point during the NPWE.
What is SEI program?
The SEI program is for eligible Veterans who face challenges in obtaining employment. Veterans approved to participate in the SEI program are hired by participating employers and employment is expected to continue following successful completion of the program. Employers may be provided this incentive to hire Veterans. If approved, the employer will receive reimbursement for up to 50 percent of the Veteran’s salary during the SEI program, which can last up to six months.

By locating these similarities, we can create the following matrix of hypotheticals to know better how employment or retraining might impact your rating.
Can veterans earn more than 100%?
Generally speaking, veterans with this rating cannot earn more than the poverty threshold without a reduction in their rating from 100% to whatever their underlying rating is . Normally, marginal employment is the same or less than the poverty threshold, which is around $11,000 in a given year, and someone who is only marginally employed may receive TDIU monies without losing their 100% rating payment.
Can you receive TDIU benefits while receiving VA?
Additionally, many VA Voc Rehab counselors tell veterans they cannot receive benefits from the program while receiving TDIU. This assertion, however, is false without a deeper analysis. It is false to simply conclude all veterans with TDIU cannot use the program.

Life isn’t too hard, standard stresses. Finances, kids, mortgage, etc. I have a decent life. My experiences in the Navy weren’t too exciting, spent 90% of my time in a clinic with aspirations of deployment. Typical divorce and all that. No camaro though lol.
How can I stress the importance of filing your disability claims asap to those separating?
A buddy of mine got out a year ago and is just now filing claims. Only really started after I told him I’m 100% p&t and can still work. I’ve been telling him to go since before he got out, since I was seperating myself and filing my claims. He says he was busy but I really can’t think of anything more important.
