Time off is difficult to come by
I have worked for Genesis for more than 14 years and it has definitely changed. It has become more revenue based rather than employee satisfaction based. Your time off is limited and sometimes not approved at all, even though you have accrued the time. They make it impossible to plan anything for vacation because of limitations.
Great coworkers but overall lack support, appreciation, and consideration for employees, unrealistic expectations
I worked for Genesis Rehab Services for a little over a year and felt a complete lack of support and appreciation from upper management. No matter how much effort put into the job and caring for the patients nothing was ever good enough.
Depends on your DOR
For clinical staff, your happiness will greatly depend on your Rehab Director. If you’re thinking about working for Genesis, meet with the DOR and the rehab staff and follow your gut.
No cost of living raises and no yearly reviews
Better if they had cost of living raises or reviews of some sort. Managers have their “favorites”. Nice office building. Working remote now though.
Unsupportive upper management with unrealistic productivity goals
I would not chose to go back to work for this company. The corporate nature of Genesis makes you feel like a number and unimportant in the grand scheme of things. No raises for years at a time with zero care for cost of living increases.
Poor respect of employees by upper management
I worked with this company for over 6 years simply because I loved the location and my coworkers. Upper management made the entire staff miserable. It was a "do as I say and not as I do" mentality with little respect for staff. A lot of yelling during meetings and constant pointing out of things done wrong or that could be done better.
Good starting job
Not worth long time employment. 0 raises and they refuse to discuss raises. Only good part is helping your patients and getting experience. But without any advancement in pay there's no point in planning for staying long term
How does management affect therapy?
Management can make or break the therapy team. There were some great rehab directors and some poor rehab directors. Management had direct affect on workplace culture and created the hardest part of the job with favoritism and decreased communication. With decent management, an employee can thrive and be productive.
Is LNA management manipulative?
Often short staffed, lower management for LNA/ nursing is manipulative. They make veiled threats to workers to get them to work more OT.Some staff are undereducated, very green, which can be problematic.
