You go to a physical therapist (civilian) for an injury to your ankle and the provider starts doing rom and stability tests on it and comments, "yeah, you definitely have some instability in that ankle, I'd be surprised if you even have any tendon left on the outside here." After contacting my Congressman, he managed to speed up the process and get someone at the NPRC to give me a copy of my DD-214!

I was checking my e-mail as I usually do in the afternoons, also because I recently got hired at some minimum wage job that I didn't really want to get hired at in the first place BECAUSE I couldn't re-enlist without my DD-214, and I was literally hired YESTERDAY.

Look I live alone. I don't make 100% disability but I think even with that I'd feel even more shitty because I'd never have a reason to leave the house. I do have 40% disability and have to work full-time and I make decent enough wages. I got a engineering degrees after separating from the Air Force.

How long did it take you before you started feeling "normal" as a civilian?

By normal I suppose I mean in a way that you just first natural in your environments like you belong. I constantly have to ask myself if what I'm saying is acceptable to say in public/work or not. I'm making an honest effort to reintegrate, been a month and change since getting out and I'm just wondering.
